Hi, my name is Gaby, and I am a Registered Psychotherapist Qualifying here at Counselling & Co. I strive to provide a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where clients of all ages and backgrounds can explore, heal, and grow. With a deep passion for promoting mental wellness and resilience among diverse communities, I offer compassionate and effective therapy for a wide range of concerns.

Choosing a therapist for yourself or your child is an important decision, and I commend you for taking this courageous step toward prioritizing mental health and well-being. My own journey through life has led me down some challenging roads, but seeking support has played a crucial role in both my personal and professional development. I am the type of therapist who isn't afraid to shed tears alongside you and wholeheartedly celebrate your successes and victories.

I'm particularly drawn to nurturing young minds and have dedicated a significant part of my career to supporting neurodiverse individuals. As a psychotherapist, I believe in a collaborative approach, empowering both children and their families to embrace their unique strengths and navigate life with confidence and resilience. During my sessions, I integrate behavioural techniques, attachment and polyvagal theory to support my clients and their caregivers in creating safe attachments. I like to integrate these theories to help children develop skills and manage behaviour using classic behavioural techniques, help parents connect with their children’s needs, and foster growth by creating a secure attachment, giving them the confidence to explore their world.

Whether you're a neurodiverse individual, a parent seeking support for your child, or a family member looking to better understand and support your loved one, I'm here to provide compassionate guidance and practical assistance every step of the way.

Another area close to my heart is providing support to individuals and couples during the perinatal period as they transition into parenthood. This aspect of my work brings me immense fulfillment. It's a time filled with both excitement and challenges, which is why I prioritize meeting you with the utmost care and compassion, regardless of where you are in your reproductive journey.

Why Work With Me

In our sessions, I will pull from evidence-based therapeutic techniques and approaches. You can expect to be supported in the following ways:

Professional Background

I am a dedicated Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), holding a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (Honours) from Yorkville University. My educational journey began with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Lusiada University in Portugal, followed by specialized post-graduate studies in Autism and Behavioural Science (Honours) at Mohawk College.

My commitment to ongoing professional development is reflected in my diverse training portfolio. I have received comprehensive training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for individuals, couples, and families, as well as Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) Level 1. Additionally, I have completed training in Brainspotting Phase 1, an innovative therapy that accesses trauma trapped in the subcortical brain, the area of the brain responsible for motion, consciousness, emotions, and learning and helps the client process and overcome traumatic experiences.

I also have training in Integrative Attachment Family Therapy and Theraplay Level 1, which helps children and their families build and enhance their emotional connection and attachment, resulting in positive self-esteem, trust in others, and joyful engagement through play. I also offer parental coaching to help parents thrive and connect with their children at different developmental stages.

As a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CRPO), I adhere to the highest standards of ethical practice and continuous learning, ensuring that I provide the most effective and compassionate care to my clients.
