I want you to feel joy and excitement about who you are so you can start living and relating more freely in the world.

Hi, I’m Jodi, the Owner and Clinical Director here at Counselling & Co. I am so glad to be extending our village to you. My goal has been to create a community of compassionate and client-centered therapists who can meet all of your therapeutic needs under one roof. By using a variety of innovative and evidence-based treatment models, our team strives to be your home base for health and wellness. The foundation of my own clinical practice is rooted in my training as a Registered Social Worker, with over 14-years of clinical experience as a therapist and 8-years as a clinical supervisor.

Supervision

As a supervisor, my primary goal is to co-create and maintain a secure alliance with you, as this is paramount to the supervisory relationship. Supervision can be a vulnerable experience. It requires courage to take the risks necessary to progress in your learning. As such, you can always count on me to be authentic, clear, direct and reassuring. Together, we will identify your goals for clinical learning, professional growth and attune to your intention of improving your clinical effectiveness with clients. This may include shifting or grounding your theoretical views, applying new interventions, identifying and processing your own emotional blocks and attachment history, and exploring self-of-therapist. Our relationship will be characterized by mutuality, collaboration and respect, in order for your learning to take place in an atmosphere that makes space for you to be held emotionally, resonated with and allows for creativity and risk taking.

Therapist

As a therapist, my goal has always been to create a therapeutic space for people to find healing and growth with a focus on relationships, perinatal mental health, and addiction. My practice uses evidence-based and integrated techniques pulling in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Brainspotting to enrich my client's sessions.

I know it takes a lot of courage to reach out and ask for help, and I want to ensure you are met with the utmost care and compassion. No matter what you think or have been told, healing is absolutely possible for you and you are capable of feeling healthy, joyful and excited about what the future holds for you and your loved ones. I understand that you may feel vulnerable or uncertain about starting therapy and stepping into the unknown but just being here shows me you're open and willing to grow.

Why Work With Me

When we work together, I bring authenticity, integrity and a deep commitment to being fully present with you in all your heartache and pain. As a therapist, my gift is my ability to be moved by you and your story. Life can be hard. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a moment to breathe, explore, vent, and grow.

I am here to help you:

  • Find the freedom to live out your hope and dreams

  • Explore how your attachment history impacts your relational experiences

  • Take time to reflect on your values, beliefs and what's important to you

  • Connect more deeply with yourself and with others.

Professional Background

Early on in my career I developed a “specialty” in addiction after extensive training and years of working in a variety of substance use & mental health settings, I developed a sub-specialty focused on providing psycho-education and therapy to those struggling with their loved one’s substance use. I have assisted hundreds of individuals, couples and families in dealing with the often lonely and overwhelming personal and relational impact of substance use , all while figuring out how to handle crises, set limits, effectively communicate and most importantly find hope once again.

After having kids and finding myself surrounded by a community of new moms and parents, I realized the lack of support during this crucial time in a new family’s life. While having a child of my own felt like a prerequisite for this work, it also launched me into countless hours of training in the area of Perinatal Mental Health with a focus on working with individuals and couples through their reproductive journey, including any trauma and loss endured along the way. I am also familiar with the experience of raising a child with a disability. I am a mom to a kiddo who is hard of hearing and has a variety of other health challenges. I hold a special place in my heart and clinical practice for parents who are navigating a diagnosis and health challenges for their little, as it can be an incredibly painful, terrifying and anxiety provoking journey.

Things I Bet You Didn't Know About Me:

  • I have sat on St. Joseph's Women's Health Concerns Clinic Community Advisory Committee since 2021

  • I was an Accreditation Peer Reviewer with the Canadian Centre for Accreditation for 7 years

  • I spent 4-months living and working as a social worker in China at a boarding school while completing my practicum in grad school.

  • I have two kiddos and 2 fur babies

  • I completed my Yoga Teacher Training with my husband in 2015 but learned I make a much better student then teacher.
